The Family Food Garden Sunset Series!

Want to learn more about growing fresh food in your own back yard? Now’s your chance! Late summer and fall are great times to start vegetable gardens, and late in the day is a great time to come to Renfrow Urban Farm. Growing your own food is easy, it doesn’t have to take up a lot of space, and it can save you money.

Join Jeff Rieves, Horticulturist & former NC Cooperative Extension agent, for evening sessions in the garden. Let’s sit in the shade of the big magnolia tree & learn all about vegetable gardening, fruit plants, food garden design, and more! Wear your walking shoes as we will be touring the Renfrow Farm.

July 15 – Natural Pest Control – There are lots of things to do before you reach for the pesticides.

July 22 – Fall Vegetable Gardens – Get even MORE fresh food from the garden by planting now for fall harvest

August 26 – The Fruitful Garden – Adding fruit plants to your garden increases the amount of fresh food you can produce.

September 2 –   The Abundant Garden – Feed your garden with composts, cover crops, & mulches to continue to grow more fresh food.

Planting a ‘Wall-o-Water’ Tomato, Field Trip to Our Farm Up the Street, Early Spring Vegetables, and Soil Preparation for Summer Garden

Seed Starting, Taking Cuttings, Cold Weather Planting, and Planning for Spring Gardening
